Gautam Buddha always said that "don't beleive what I say or don't do what I preach just because I am saying it.All my sayings are pure lies if after analysis you don't find any logic or reasoning behind them."
So don't just beleive what others say about a religion just because they are saying it. Try to find out the reasons behind themelse conside it not true. You can still follow what others say if they assist the welfare of the human race.
Mahatma Gandhi is manytimes misunderstood by many people. This is because of his laid back approach. Because of his "Ahimsa Parmo Dharma" he was portrayed as afraid of voilence. Mahatma Gandhi never said that he was against killing people. He would have liked to assist those people who are killing others if they were fulfilling one condition i.e there should be no greed and anger behind killing others. there should be a sense of dutifullness behind the killing either for an empire or a nation.
This is why he was a beleiver of Bhagvad Gita and Karmayoga.
